A longtime crew member of “Roseanne” and “The Conners” has died after suffering a “fatal medical event” on set of the ABC series.
A spokesperson for Werner Entertainment, the production company behind ‘The Conners,” confirmed the news to Deadline.
“With heavy hearts we regret to confirm that a member of our technical crew suffered a fatal medical event today,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “He was a much loved member of ‘The Conners’ and ‘Roseanne’ families for over 25 years. As we remember our beloved colleague, we ask that you respect the privacy of his family and loved ones as they begin their grieving process.”
According to TMZ, the crew member was walking on a catwalk at Stage 22 at CBS Studio Center when he suffered the medical emergency on Thursday. Studio medical personnel were called in an attempt to resuscitate him and he was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to the outlet.
“The Conners” was wrapping its third season when the incident occurred. The series premiered in 2018 after the revival of “Roseanne” was abruptly canceled in the aftermath of Roseanne Barr’s racist tweets.
ABC then moved forward with the “Roseanne” spin-off by killing off Barr’s titular character and rebranding it as “The Conners.”
The series has continued to air with the rest of the entire cast including John Goodman, Sara Gilbert and Laurie Metcalfe.
