John Moore's season is over. The Bruins announced Saturday that the veteran defenseman underwent a hip arthroscopy and labral repair on March 22 that will keep him out approximately five-to-six months.
It's been a tough last couple seasons for Moore, who also missed a significant chunk of the 2019-20 season after shoulder surgery. He played in five games this season, but often struggled to crack the lineup even with numerous injuries on the blue line.
Then he suffered the hip injury and eventually decided surgery was the best path forward, effectively ending his season.
The Bruins can now place Moore on long-term injured reserve, if they haven't already, and free up more salary cap space before the April 12 trade deadline.
