Ime Udoka is starting to fill out his coaching staff. The Celtics have hired former Rookie of the Year Damon Stoudamire to be an assistant, according to Jeff Goodman.

Last week, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Stoudamire was on Boston’s radar.

With Brad Stevens assistants Jay Larranaga and Jamie Young leaving the coaching staff, Udoka has multiple slots to fill. Stoudamire, a former standout who’s heavy on playing and coaching experience, seems to be an excellent start.

Stoudamire took home Rookie of the Year honors in 1995-96 after being drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the No. 7 overall pick. The point guard played 15 seasons in the NBA, averaging 13.4 points per game.

Most recently, he was the head men’s basketball coach at Pacific University, compiling a 71-77 record. Stoudamire was also on staff at Memphis and Arizona, and spent two years as an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies.
