Bruins forward Jakub Lauko suffered a scary injury Tuesday night in Chicago when his face got cut by a skate blade while he was down on the ice. A photo shared by Lauko on Friday confirms just how nasty the injury was, and how close it was to being much worse.

Bruins blow lead vs. Ducks, finally lose first game

In a photo shared to his personal X/Twitter account, Lauko can be seen with a black eye and stitches stretching from the bridge of his nose to the edge of his left eye.

Lucky indeed. Thankfully, the cut did not damage the eye itself, other than the obvious swelling. Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said on Thursday that Lauko also suffered a facial fracture. He is expected to miss at least a week.

Linemate Milan Lucic is also out for multiple weeks due to a lower-body injury, leaving the Bruins without two-thirds of their usual fourth line. Jesper Boqvist and Patrick Brown were the wings with center Johnny Beecher in Thursday's loss to Anaheim. Danton Heinen also continues to practice with the team, but he has not officially signed a contract yet and is not eligible to play until or unless he does.
