Jerry Jones knows that few things said by someone in his position are kept private.
So, it didn’t catch him by surprise that his comment to Robert Kraft got leaked out.

The Dallas Cowboys owner turned heads earlier in the week when an ESPN report revealed he told Patriots owner Robert Kraft “don’t f— with me” during Tuesday’s owners meetings. Jones reportedly said the line in question during a discussion about Roger Goodell’s next contract.
Jones addressed the leaked remark in his weekly appearance on the “K&C Masterpiece”
“Well, first of all, I have just gotten used to the fact that when (I’m) saying something, it’s highly likely it could be being recorded or it could be being heard and will be repeated," Jones said. "I’ve just gotten used to that, so consequently, I really don’t say things that – it’s almost like every time I talk it’s like talking to you guys, over the air. So, that goes with it.
"Certainly, when you are in those situations, you express yourself,” Jones said. “... I would say that in this particular case, it’s probably accurate that I did express myself in probably a way that's not in good taste.”
While not exactly the most direct admission, that does essentially confirm the reporting.
Jones ended up on an island when it came to actually voting on whether to begin negotiations on Goodell’s next contract. The measure passed 31-1, Jones being the lone dissenter, meaning the owners can start contract talks with the commissioner.
