In a surprising move, the Patriots have suspended cornerback Jack Jones and punter Jake Bailey ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale in Buffalo.

Both players were already on injured reserve and wouldn't have played anyways, but they have now been moved to the "reserve/suspended by club" list retroactive to Dec. 31. That means both players would miss out on two game checks.
No reason has been given for the suspensions as of Friday afternoon.
Jones' agent, Jamal Tooson, released a statement to NFL Network's Mike Garafalo suggesting there was a "miscommunication regarding Jack's rehab process."
Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reported that Jones and Bailey's suspensions are unrelated.
Jones, a 2022 fourth-round pick, was having a promising rookie season before suffering a knee injury in Arizona on Dec. 12.
Bailey, meanwhile, was having the worst season of his career through nine games before being placed on IR with a back injury. He ranked last in the NFL in punting average.
