The Red Sox have made their first two September call-ups, and Triston Casas is not one of them. The red-hot Connor Wong is, though.
The team announced Thursday afternoon that it has recalled Wong and selected right-handed pitcher Eduard Bazardo from Triple-A Worcester. Bazardo will need to be added to the 40-man roster, but Boston already had an opening there.

Wong, a 26-year-old catcher who has also played a little bit of second base this season, has been on fire over the last few weeks. He is batting .368 (25-for-68) with a 1.249 OPS, nine home runs and 22 RBIs in his last 16 games for the WooSox.
On the season, he has hit .288 (93-for-323) with an .838 OPS, 20 doubles, 15 home runs and 44 RBIs in 81 games for Worcester. Wong was acquired as part of the Mookie Betts trade and has appeared in 11 career games for Boston, including five this season.
Bazardo, 27, has a 3.45 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 57 1/3 innings across 37 appearances (four starts) for Worcester this season. He made his big-league debut last season with the Red Sox and allowed one hit in three scoreless innings across two relief appearances.
As for Casas, one of the Red Sox's top prospects, he will have to wait, although it may not be much longer. Alex Cora has already acknowledged there's a chance the 22-year-old first baseman will be called up before the end of the season, and Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette tweeted on Thursday that it will "likely" happen at some point.
