Jeff Bezos has reportedly not yet submitted a bid for the Washington Commanders, but he may already have a very powerful fan and ally in the NFL in New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Kraft was asked about the possibility of the Commanders sale and Bezos specifically in an interview with Fox Business' Neil Cavuto on Friday and indicated support for Bezos joining the exclusive club.

While Kraft dodged part of the question about Washington – aside from mentioning that Dan Snyder had hired Bank of America to explore the possibility of a sale – he did take the time to praise the Amazon founder.

"Well, my understanding is that the team is up for sale," Kraft said. "I'm not really privy to who all the buyers are.

"I think Jeff is probably one of the most competent business people in the world, what he's done, built a company like that and built the scale, and maintained quality. He is definitely a tremendous operator," he said.

"For those of us that are privileged to own NFL franchises, it's the one thing I believe more than anything that builds community," Kraft added. "And we need good operating people in their individual towns and I think Jeff would be a great owner."

If Bezos wants to make a move he still has time, as the deadline for the first round of bids is in a few weeks, according to a report Friday in The Athletic. And the belief that Snyder's animosity toward the Washington Post owner as a sticking point could be overblown.

“As much as everyone says Dan hates Bezos (because of his ownership of the Post), if Bezos pays $200 million more, Dan will give him a piggyback ride around the stadium," one investment banker who requested anonymity because he has done business with the Commanders told The Athletic.

But he may have stiff competition from Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris, who recently toured the team's facility.
