On Wednesday, the NFL announced that running back Rhamondre Stevenson had been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 3 touchdown performance in a 38-10 blowout win over the Dolphins in Week 18.
Stevenson ended the day with 7 carries, 2 catches, 131 rushing yards, 22 receiving yards and 3 total touchdowns (1 receiving, 2 rushing).
This performance is the exclamation point on a season of major ups and downs for Stevenson, who through Week 5 was leading the NFL in fumbles. Head coach Mike Vrabel stuck by the five-year pro, and he’s now in the midst of playing some of the best football of his career as a part of a lethal tandem that includes rookie TreVeyon Henderson.
Here’s what the Patriots (14-3) said in a statement shortly after Stevenson’s win was announced by the league:
“The New England Patriots are proud to announce that RB Rhamondre Stevenson has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 3-touchdown performance in the Patriots’ 38-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins. It is the first Offensive Player of the Week honor for Stevenson.
“Stevenson finished the game with 7 rushing attempts for 131 yards with 2 rushing touchdowns and an 18.7-yard average. Stevenson had a 56-yard run in the first quarter to set up the Patriots’ first touchdown and then scored on a 35-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Stevenson added 2 receptions for 22 yards and scored his third touchdown of the day on a 15-yard pass from QB Drake Maye. Stevenson’s three overall touchdowns are a career high. He is the fifth Patriots player to register at least 150 yards from scrimmage and score 3 touchdowns in a game.”
This honor for Stevenson is the seventh in-season honor handed out to a member of the Patriots this season:
- Week 2: Antonio Gibson wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
- Week 4: Marcus Jones wins Special Teams Player of the Week
- Week 7: K'Lavon Chaisson wins AFC Defensive Player of the Week
- October: Jones wins AFC Defensive Player of the Month
- Week 12: Andy Borregales wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
- Week 13: Drake Maye wins AFC Offensive Player of the Week
- Week 17: Rhamondre Stevenson wins AFC Offensive Player of the Week
Both Maye and Vrabel are in line to potentially pull down some more individual hardware of their own over the next month or so, with both individuals among the favorites to win the highest individual honors for their respective positions - Maye for MVP, and Vrabel for Coach of the Year.
And with 2025 being as successful as it’s been for New England on the strength of new-look roster, don’t be surprised if executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf pops up as a real candidate for NFL Executive of the Year.
As of publishing, the Patriots are a 3.5-point favorite heading into their Wild Card Round matchup with the Chargers (11-6). New England is currently listed on the moneyline at -198, and the total is set at 46.
