The Bruins advanced to the second round with a 3-1 win over the Capitals in Sunday night's Game 5. When they hit the ice for their first home game of the second round, they'll have a just about full TD Garden cheering them on.

Shortly after Sunday's game, the team announced the following:

In accordance with City and State guidelines, the Boston Bruins will be permitted to return to near full capacity beginning on May 29, 2021. In accordance with NHL guidelines, all guests at TD Garden will continue to be required to wear masks and follow the Play it Safe Protocols (www.TDGarden.com/PlayItSafe) until further notice.

The 29th is Saturday. With the Bruins now awaiting the winner of Penguins-Islanders, a series currently tied 2-2 that could end either Wednesday or Friday, Saturday is probably the earliest the second round would start if that series wraps up in six games. If it goes seven, the next round could start Sunday or Monday.

The Bruins would start on the road for the first two games if they face the Penguins, while they would have home ice and host the first two games if they face the Islanders.

The Celtics recently made a similar announcement using the "near full capacity" language, saying they will have a close to full Garden for Game 4 of their first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets this coming Sunday. Fenway Park is set to return to 100% capacity on Saturday for the Red Sox' game against the Marlins.
