He is being viewed somewhat of a wild card for the Celtics heading into the 2021-22 season. Sunday night in the NBA Summer League, Yam Madar proved why that's the narrative.

A second-round pick of the Celtics in last year's NBA Draft (No. 47 overall), the guard played 17 solid minutes for the C's during their 85-83 win over the Hawks. Madar finished with eight points (4-of-6 from the floor), two rebounds and two assists off the bench.

“I was very happy with Yam,” Celtics Summer League coach Joe Mazzulla said. “I thought he did a great job of changing the game with his ball pressure."

Mazzulla added, “I think just finding his niche. I think he’s great in pick-and-roll, he’s aggressive and just trigger-happy with making the right read, and that was one of the points of emphasis for him was can he make the right read over and over again."

The 20-year-old Madar spent last season in Europe playing for Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Payton Pritchard was the star of the Celtics' win, finishing with 23 points while going 7-of-15 from beyond the three-point stripe.
