Some Red Sox fans are clamoring for Jersey Street to undergo another name change.

How about “Jerry Remy Way?”

The Change.org petition ““Re-name Jersey St. as ‘Jerry Remy Way’” has amassed more than 9,500 signatures as of late Thursday morning. The organizer, Ernie Paicopolos, is aiming for 10,000 digital John Hancocks.

There’s been an outpouring of support for Remy across Boston and the sports broadcasting world. The iconic analyst was a cultural institution around these parts. As Joe Buck said, if there was an emperor of Red Sox Nation, it would be the RemDawg.

Three years ago, the Red Sox changed the name of “Yawkey Way” to “Jersey Street” following outcry over the continued honoring of Tom Yawkey, who was the last MLB owner to sign a Black player.

We can all agree Remy is more worthy of the honor. The public can pay their respects to him Thursday.
