weei football sunday: is this rock bottom?

The Patriots received a sliver of good news following their 6-0 loss to the Chargers on Sunday as, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, X-rays on RB Rhamondre Stevenson’s injured ankle came back negative.

Stevenson left the game in the first quarter when, as he was taken down by LA linebacker Tuli Tuipulotu, his right ankle was rolled up on. The running back stayed down on the field for some time before being helped off by trainers to the locker room. He couldn’t put any weight on his right leg.

Howe added that the belief is Stevenson's injury is a sprain, but they won't know for sure until an MRI is conducted.

"Just thinking about him," Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott, who came in for the injured Stevenson and ran for 52 yards on 17 carries. "Hoping for the best."

New England has a quick turnaround this week as they'll head to Pittsburgh on Thursday for a matchup against the Steelers.
