CNN reporter Manu Raju's latest interview was a real pest.
With Brood X cicadas beginning to wreak havoc after 17 years underground, Raju found out firsthand of their menacing nature while reporting live on CNN last night.
Being the laser-focused journalist he is, Raju didn’t even notice the gross two-inch insect was crawling up his suit lapel as he was communicating with his crew while awaiting his cue. But then the bug snuck over to the back of his neck, Raju felt it, reached back, and grabbed and threw the thing down, letting out a big, “ohhhhhh my god!” and assorted other hilarious broadcast-averse swear word bleeps.
For the most part, Raju’s sense of humor remained as focused as his reporting acumen, as he quickly posted the icky encounter on his Twitter.
“Had an unwelcome visitor try to crawl into my live shot earlier,” Raju tweeted.
Needless to say, the ensuing comments are a never-ending treasure-trove.
“It was clearly visible why didnt anyone tell you! Lol,” wrote one fan.
“I stopped breathing 3,4 seconds while laughing,” added another.
“And so the picking of sides during the cicada revolution begins,” joked a third.
Some followers started finding other classic clips of “bugged” reporters to drop in the comments, which you really need to scroll to see!
After years of trying to get honest answers out of politicians, a little creepy crawler isn’t going to shake Manu Raju. And hey, at least it wasn’t a murder hornet.
