A father in Montana claims that his 6-year-old son discovered a "spent bullet" in a bag of Cheetos he was eating.
The dad, Buford Horn Weasel, told Today that he purchased the bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos at a convenience store in Kalispell, Montana, while his family was doing some “last-minute Easter shopping.”
The patriarch said his 6-year-old was halfway through the bag but stopped eating when he found the bullet.
“He finished them and at the bottom of the bag was, was that bullet,” the father said.
“He just picked it up and asked his mom what it was, but I’m pretty sure he knew,” he added. “He grabbed it and then he showed his mom and said, ‘Mom, look at the bullet.’ And she freaked out, you know?”
Horn Weasel said that while there was a slight tear on the bag, it was unclear if it was like that when the snack was purchased or if his son did it after the fact.
He also was generally perplexed at the incident.
"It's a spent bullet, it was shot and it somehow ended up in our bag," Horn Weasel said. "That happened, you know?"
Horn Weasel also stated that parent company Frito-Lay has contacted him and requested the bag and bullet for examination.
Frito-Lay told TODAY that it is “committed to ensuring the quality and safety of our products.”
“This situation is highly unusual and troubling, and we have already taken steps to investigate and attempt to identify the root cause,” the statement reads. “We appreciate Mr. Weasel bringing this to our attention and will continue to work with him to resolve this matter.”
