Let’s cut right to the chase… DNCE is back.

Joe Jonas announced the return of the dance-funk-pop outfit and had an unlikely source of inspiration for getting the group back together.
Jonas will once again link up with his DNCE bandmates, drummer Jack Lawless and guitarist JinJoo Lee, but the group will be without bassist Cole Whittle. “While I was in the Jonas Brothers again, I put a pause on all things DNCE, with the support of my fellow bandmates,” Jonas told Rolling Stone.
Whittle’s departure wasn’t born out of animosity. Instead, Jonas and the group want to support his solo endeavors. “It became this thing where we all went and did our own thing and started to look at what else we wanted to do,” Jonas explained. “Cole’s been making really amazing music that’s right up his alley, and I’m really supportive of him.”
Jonas’ vision for the future of DNCE was made clearer after he finished reading The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music, which is the autobiography from Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.
After seeing the wide variety of artists Grohl collaborated with both in Foo Fighters and on his own, Jonas felt that he could do the same with DNCE. “It could be a great opportunity to have some special guests, like obviously Ryan [Tedder] who is a fantastic musician,” Jonas said. “I can totally see him hopping up onstage here and there. He’s kind of busy, but I think it would be a fun concept.”
He drew on one real life comparison for how he sees things shaking out with DNCE. Bruce Springsteen and his backing group the E Street Band. “I can kind of foresee it becoming this E Street Band where members come and go,” Jonas said.
For now, Jonas has been teasing a new DNCE single called “Dancing Feet.” The track is a collaboration with Kygo and already serves as a fun, upbeat continuation of the group’s previous music.
“It’s really happy. It’s that feeling of not really giving a f*** and enjoying life to the fullest,” Jonas said of the song. “I think what DNCE always did so well was bring joy to people, which is what I wanted to do with this new batch of music. Obviously it’s still very tricky times, but it reminds us all of being able to go out there and dance and enjoy life.”
