Picking someone up at the airport is a thankless job. Unless they say thanks, of course. Still, it is a horribly stressful situation when the airport is busy. When it comes to MCO in Orlando, that time is...always.
Don't worry, it doesn't have to be the bane of your existence. I discovered a little airport hack while picking my wife up at MCO last night that will change your experience for the better. (see video below)
Instead of having her meet me in the arrivals area, which is horribly chaotic with people losing all sense of how to act, I had her meet me in the departures. Here it is a much smoother operation, with people only having to drop off their loved ones. The arrivals? People get there way too early and find every possible opportunity to get in your way, cut you off, etc., and then of course honk at you like it's your fault. No thanks, I don't need that in my life.
Is this hack legal? Frowned upon? I don't know, and honestly don't care. Saving me from 20 minutes of pulling my hair out is worth the risk. So remember, next time you're tasked with the honorable job of picking someone up from the airport; do the opposite. Pick them up at the departures.
