A law enforcement officer is being praised a hero for his quick reaction after single-handedly lifting a car from on top of a trapped driver.

The Virginia deputy has officially been honored for his “incredible response to an unexpected situation after he lifted a flipped car to allow a woman inside to escape," Storyful reports.

On May 7, the frightening incident occurred as bodycam footage shows Deputy J Holt arriving to find the woman “laying underneath the vehicle with her head pinned by the sunroof.”

The Gloucester Sheriff’s Office posted a description of the incident to their official Facebook page.

When seeing the trauma the woman’s child was witnessing outside the vehicle, Holt “went into overdrive,” read the post.

"Through sheer will and determination due to fearing the female may succumb to her circumstance in front of her panic-stricken child, Deputy J. Holt took quick action and was able to physically lift the vehicle up enough for the driver to maneuver her head out to safety," the sheriff's office wrote.

It is unclear if the woman suffered any injuries.

Holt is no stranger to saving the day. Last year, he pulled two people from a burning home, according to the sheriff.
