First off, if you didn't know, I play guitar in a band called Low Standards. We've been around for 8 years playing shows as a cover band and also writing and recording our own original songs. We consider ourselves a pop-punk band, with heavy influences from Blink-182, Third Eye Blind, New Found Glory, etc. While we're not getting Bieber-level streams just yet, it is nice to know that there are people out there enjoying our music.
A very cool thing happened today. We came across a video of two members of the US National Guard doing a guitar cover of our 2021 song, "Someone Famous". After doing some digging, we learned that the two men are SPC Bryce Muirhead and Sgt. Mike Wismont. Apparently they are big fans of the song, and took it upon themselves to learn how to play it, which is impressive considering the guitar tabs are not available online. Check it out:
Now we know who to call if one of our guitar players calls in sick to a show. These boys killed it. "Someone Famous" is a special song to us, and to see other people enjoying it is extremely rewarding. We actually filmed a music video for it last year at the historic Fargo Theater in Fargo, North Dakota, which you can watch here:
