7 iconic Larry King interviews: Frank Sinatra, Beatles, Marlon Brando & more

As the world mourns the passing of Larry King, it is clear his legacy will live on.

King, who died on Saturday at the age of 87, was known for his disarming interviews that put guests at ease and made him personable to audiences.

Over the course of his 60-year career, it is estimated King conducted more than 50,000 interviews.

From his early days as a radio reporter in Miami, to his 25 years hosting “Larry King Live” on CNN, the legendary broadcaster sat down with political leaders, celebrities and everyday people.

Here are seven of King’s most memorable interviews.

Frank Sinatra -- 1988

King has called his interview with Ol’ Blue Eyes one of his most cherished. During the segment, Sinatra discussed his disdain for people who write “kiss-and-tell” books and admitted he still got stage fright. “The first four or five seconds, I tremble every time I take the step and I walk out of the wing onto the stage,” the Chairman of the Board said.

Marlon Brando - 1994

To promote his memoir, “Songs My Mother Taught Me,” the reclusive “Godfather” star sat down with King to discuss his Hollywood career. In between some classic Brando quotes, the two wound up doing a duet to “Got a Date with an Angel” and finished the interview with a kiss on the lips.

Jerry Seinfeld - 2007

While Seinfeld went on to talk about his animated film "Bee Movie," King was more interested in discussing the demise of the comedian’s self-titled sitcom. When King asked if the NBC hit was canceled in 1998, Seinfeld was quick to clarify the situation. "You're not aware of this? You think I got canceled?" Seinfeld responded. "You're under the impression that I got canceled? That was the No. 1 show on television, Larry. Do you know who I am?"

The Beatles - 2007

In a historic interview, King managed to reunite surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. The four came together to discuss the premiere of the group’s Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil show “LOVE.” At one point, King referred to Ringo as “George.”

Donald Trump - 1987

Nearly 30 years before coming down the escalator at Trump Tower to announce his run for the White House, real estate mogul Donald Trump sat down with King and disclosed he “didn’t want to be president.” Trump also elaborated on why he took out an ad criticizing then-Vice President George H.W. Bush.

Tammy Faye Messner - 2007

Previously married to disgraced televangelist Jim Bakker, Tammy Faye was interviewed by King on multiple occasions. But her appearance in 2007 was especially heartbreaking as she discussed her cancer battle and disclosed she was down to weighing 65 pounds. Messner passed away the very next day.

Lady Gaga - 2010

Decked out in an outfit paying homage to King, Lady Gaga donned sunglasses and suspenders and discussed everything from her burgeoning career, her commitment to LGBT advocacy, and even her family’s history with lupus. While he may not be a little monster, Gaga knew she was speaking with a legend and began the interview by asking, “Should I call you Larry or should I call you King Larry?”
