The Munich Animal Welfare Association had an advertising agency shoot professional photos of the 15 animals. They then paired the pictures with small bios trying to attract the hearts of those looking for love, Reuters reported.
Jillian Moss told Reuters that the animal shelter said several people have already swiped right on Tinder to set up their first "date" with the four-legged friends looking for love.
"The response is insane; it's exploding everywhere," she added.
U.S. shelters are being overrun with animals adopted at the start of the pandemic when families were working from home. With offices reopening, many found that they could not care for the furry creatures resulting in the pets being abandoned.
This has led to an uptick in animals facing euthanization in shelters as they cannot hold them all.
The same thing was seen in Germany, sparking the Munich Shelter's idea to get their pets in new homes.
"We hope that these animals really find a new partner, a 'purrfect match' in the long term and not just for a few weeks," Benjamin Beilke, who is coordinating Tinder communication for the shelter, said.
"There aren't only lonely souls among humans, but there are also a lot of lonely souls among animals," he added.
