“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” a Marvel spokesperson said in a statement. “She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.”

The medical emergency is not expected to impact the film’s shooting schedule. While most of the “Black Panther” sequel is shooting in Atlanta, Variety reports Wright was filming her scene in Boston.

In “Wakanda Forever,” Wright reprises the role of Shuri, the younger sister of T’Challa, portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman.

The beloved actor passed away on Aug. 28, 2020 of colon cancer.

The plot of the highly-anticipated sequel has been kept tightly under wraps and follows on the success of the blockbuster 2018 original.

In addition to Wright, the sequel is expected to see the rest of the main cast including Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, and Angela Bassett. Last month, it was also revealed “I May Destroy You” star and creator Michaela Cole had joined the cast in an unknown role. Ryan Coogler is also back as director.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is set to hit theaters on July 8, 2022.
