Shannen Doherty is opening up about her future as her Stage 4 breast cancer has spread to her bones.
Speaking with PEOPLE, the former “Beverly Hills, 90210” actor revealed, “I don’t want to die.”
“I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better,” she said. "I’m just not — I’m not done.”
Doherty was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She had a mastectomy and underwent radiation and chemotherapy.
In 2017 she had gone into remission, but in 2019, the cancer had come back.
“When you ask yourself, ‘Why me? Why did I get cancer?’ and then ‘Why did my cancer come back? Why am I stage 4?,’ that leads you to look for the bigger purpose in life,” she said.
Doherty went on, saying she wants to raise awareness and funds for cancer research as she called it “insane” there isn’t a cure for the disease.
The actor said she feels grateful for each new day, as well as her German shepherd Bowie.
“My greatest memory is yet to come,” she said.
