“It’s time, officially, to turn ‘Sk8er Boi’ into a film.” Yes, Avril Lavigne, our thoughts exactly. While walking the red carpet at the 2022 GRAMMYs, Avril talked to Entertainment Tonight about her plans to turn her hit 2002 single into a movie, and shared a potential casting detail we now not just want, but desperately need.

“I don’t have the cast yet, but I’ve been working on it already for two years,” Avril shared. “Making an album takes like, six months or a year. Making a movie takes, like, five years.”

And though she doesn’t have any actress and actors booked as of yet, she does already have “a writer and a director,” and is “in the process of putting that all together.”

Taking on the role of Producer with this project, Avril also told ET, “it’s a whole new learning process for me and I’m excited to grow and go into a new venture. ”

As for her dream cast, when asked who she imagines as the “Sk8er Boi,” Avril wasn’t entirely sure, but did insist whoever it ends up being, “he just has to have a ton of swag.”

Oh and for that potential casting we teased at earlier, Avril also revealed that during her viral skateboarding sesh with Tony Hawk last summer, she just had to ask him to be in the film. Feeling too mature to be dubbed a “boi,” his only request was, “just call me the ‘Sk8er Dad.’”

Well, that sounds like an official casting to us, and that’s the story we’re sticking with.
