When Addison chose to release “Obsessed” the social media starlet opted out of going the long, teasing route and chose to give her fans a completely unexpected moment. Rae tells us she wanted fans to “form their opinion off of what it was and not just to talk about,” leading up to the debut.
Going into the debut of the new track Addison says she knew there would be critics right off the bat, but regardless she tells us that she was confident in the single and that’s all that mattered.
The star who recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, tells us that her stage presence is so exuberant because her “safe space” has always been the stage.
Rae has been in competitive dance and cheer since the age of six, and for her, when it comes to performances and music videos, her favorite part is always “the dance part.” When she shot the music video for “Obsessed” the choreography was the best moment for her… aside from getting to rock a wig for the first time.
With her first foray into pop music already completed and seeing success, Addison already has a second single in the works and shares, “it will be out sooner than people think and then afterward I’m already now starting to work on a project,” leading us to speculate that Rae may have an album in the works as well. She adds, “I don’t have any dates for you yet… I want it to happen organically and I don’t want to rush it and I want to feel like it’s perfect before I put it out.”
With things taking shape for Addison, the singer reveals that she even has a songwriting credit on “Obsessed” and tells us that the whole process has allowed her to begin to hone her skills sonically, technically, and as a songwriter in general.
When working in the studio with her team of writers Rae says, “I’m a very big concept girl. I come up with concepts; I bring concepts into the studio all the time. I brought in ‘Obsessed’ and I brought in a lot of the tracks that we have that will hopefully be on the project too. That’s kind of my strong suit, concepts, and hooks.”
