Grant was known for his role as Chief Big Bear in “The Lone Ranger,” as well as for featured appearances in “Breaking Bad” and other television series and films.

Speaking to the AP, Grant’s publicist Lani Carmichael stressed his love for Los Angeles and Oklahoma, where he was born in the town of Pawnee in 1936.

“He loved both Oklahoma and L.A.,” Carmichael told the outlet. “He made his home here as an actor, but he never forgot his roots in Oklahoma. He remained a fan of the Sooner Nation.”

Grant served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He was also the hereditary chief of the Sac & Fox Nation of Oklahoma.

The actor spoke around the world about Native American culture, his publicist explained.

“His motto in life was always respect one another and don’t talk about one another in a negative way,” she said.

Other projects he appeared in included “Baywatch,” “My Name Is Earl,” “Saving Grace,” “American Horror Story,” “Shameless,” “Community,” “Workaholics” and “Veep,” per his IMDB page.
