Tasked by a friend to create a Christmas song, Chris tells us he first "kind of laughed it off," but after giving the challenge some consideration he came up with a little idea.
Kirkpatrick adds, "I called my buddy Bryan Popin and my buddy Mike Bosch, and I was like, 'Hey, I came up with this concept... what do you guys think [you] can do?' They got to work putting a little track together, we went over to the studio, recorded it, and I called Richard [Bazzy] and I said 'I got a song for you real quick... you wanted me to do a little Christmas song...' So, I guess this is me, Brian, Mike, and Richard's attempt at a Christmas song."
"The concept was maybe three weeks ago," Chris explains, and although he premiered a demo of the track on-air, he plans on remixing and mastering what he's tentatively calling "Falling In Love At Christmas" in the coming months.
After the premiere Chris humbly says, "All the goodness in that" is brought to you by his amazing collaborators. "We just all kind of sat around and tried to pump it out as soon as possible."
As a member of the board of Notes for Notes, an organization that builds recording studios for children to use at recreational centers, he says another idea struck him recently to include kids on the finalized track. “I was like, man, this is something they should do… I really want to get these kids on the track. I think they're gonna get on it this week and when we have a final, hopefully, it'll be before Christmas. If not, maybe you'll hear it next year.”
“It's a great organization,” he adds, “and these kids work really hard. It would be nice to give them something that we could promote next year and they could listen and go, ‘Hey, that's me on the record,’ and give them the motivation to be in the music business.”
