Apparently, a dialect coach who worked with Lady Gaga on her highly anticipated Ridley Scott film, House of Gucci isn’t much of a little monster.
The dialect coach has admitted that she feels Gaga did not get the Italian accent down perfectly for her role as Patrizia Reggiani.
Francesca De Martini, Italian actress, and dialect coach, told The Daily Beast, “I feel bad saying this, but her accent is not exactly an Italian accent, it sounds more Russian.”
De Martini herself auditioned for various parts in the film but was never cast. She was called back to assist and coach Gaga’s co-star, Salma Hayek.
“What happened was this: Salma shot for one day and then asked for a dialogue coach. I think she heard the accent wasn’t right and she was worried — she wanted to do well,” Di Martini explained to the outlet.
While working with Hayek, Martini formed her own opinions on Gaga’s take on Reggiani.

Earlier this month, while appearing on British Vogue and Vogue Italia, Gaga spoke about the work she put into the role and the time she spent crafting her performance. She shared, “I lived as her [Reggiani] for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that,” even off-camera. “I never broke. I stayed with her.”
