On Tuesday (July 25), Timbaland took to Instagram and shared two new posts. The first, a photo of him in the studio with Timberlake on a FaceTime call with Furtado, captioned: “Da dream team @justintimberlake @nellyfurtado.” The second, a snippet of Furtado’s vocals playing out in the studio; captioned, “Oooooooo boyyyyyyy. We back!!!!!!!!”
Obviously the internet is going to lose its collective mind when a potential new “Give It To Me” is on the horizon. And with no double checking or confirming, we’re gonna go ahead and say the “we back” portion of Timbo’s caption says it all.
Recently speaking with Variety about the recording sessions for Justin’s new album, the producer said “Everything sounds great. Now it’s really on him how he plans to wrap it up and how and when he envisions it to come out. With an artist of his caliber, everything has to be aligned, but it’s done and it’s coming.”
Timbaland also added that the tracks they’ve been working on are, “nothing too heavy, just giving you what you’d expect from us. Not overthought, the lyrics are not so deep, it’s bob-your-head, dance-to-it music,” noting it's giving “FutureSex part two,” in reference to Timberlake’s acclaimed 2006 sophomore album FutureSex/LoveSounds.
Just in case it wasn’t already obvious, we’re very much here for all of this, and it can’t come soon enough.
