Netflix is making Selena fans’ hearts go bidi bidi bom bom with its scripted drama that tells the story of the Tejano music legend Selena Quintanilla’s childhood and career.

“Selena: The Series” was announced in December of 2018 and debuted on December 4, 2020. In early 2021, the streaming giant announced the release date for the second part of the series, reports Billboard. Along with a few newcomers, you may recognize some familiar faces in the cast. Watch the trailer and meet the cast below:

Part one of the two-part series premiered on Netflix in December 2020. Part 2 was released on May 14, 2021.

The series focuses primarily on Selena's life prior to achieving stardom.

This isn't the first time the actress has played a villain, though as she told Audacy, playing the woman who murdered Selena Quintanilla left her feeling "squeamish."

Juan Martinez, who has had roles on shows like “Parenthood,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “S.W.A.T.,” and “Triple Frontier” plays young A.B. Quintanilla. Daniela Estrada plays the role of young Suzette, the middle Quintanilla child who begrudgingly learned to play the drums for her family's band.

Selena Quintanilla’s meteoric music career was tragically cut short when she was killed by her former fan club president at the age of 23. She was the first Latin artist to debut atop the Billboard 200 with her posthumous album “Dreaming of You.” The 1997 biopic based on her life story catapulted Jennifer Lopez into Hollywood’s A-list, and Quintanilla’s musical legacy lives on, with stars like Kacey Musgraves paying tribute to the queen of tex-mex on stage at the Houston Astrodome.
