It's already an historical night for Megan Thee Stallion at the 2021 GRAMMYs!

The "Body" rapper, who also took the award for Best Rap Performance, is now the first female rapper to take home the coveted Best New Artist award since 1999. And while the show is not even into its second half, and another two nominations to go for her including Record of the Year and Best Rap Song, we'll certainly be keeping a close eye on Meg tonight!

Meg was presented the award by the ever-enchanting Lizzo after being included in an incredible list of nominees including Phoebe Bridgers, KAYTRANADA, Doja Cat, Chika, Ingrid Andress, Noah Cyrus, and D Smoke.

“Thank you, Lord. God is the first person I want to thank. My grandma, thank you, nanny, for making me stop music to finish school,” Meg said when receiving the award, before making a special shout to her mom, Holly, who passed away of cancer in 2019. "Thank you, momma, for pushing me."

Megan is the first female rapper to take home the Best New Artist award since 1999 -- 22 years ago, when Lauryn Hill, who released her beloved The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, took home a total of 5 awards including Album of the Year and Best New Artist.

Interestingly, that very album went Diamond this year according to The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Hill is also the first female rapper to claim this accolade, which is no surprise since making history is simply what she does. Hill is also the first female rapper to win Best Rap Album.
