Mark Margolis, who received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Hector Salamanca in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” has died at the age of 83, his son Morgan told The Hollywood Reporter.

Margolis briefly attended Temple University, then moved to New York in his teens, where he studied at the Actors Studio under legendary teacher Stella Adler.

He gained traction with supporting roles in movies like “Scarface” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.” He was also featured in a number of Darren Aronovsky films, including his star role in the director's debut, “Pi.”

In 2012, Margolis was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as cartel don Hector Salamanca in “Breaking Bad.” He reprised his fan-favorite role, playing a younger version of Hector in the spinoff “Better Call Saul.”

Margolis is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, his son, and several grandchildren.
