And it seems actor Ryan Reynolds is increasingly aware of the hazards of bringing the authenitic physicality to the screen.

In a recent interview, the actor admits he may have to hit the brakes on doing his own stunts.

Now 45 years old, Reynolds told Variety that he can see the creaky-boned writing on the walls when it comes to pulling off stunts.

“You’re not allowed to eat Advil like cereal,” he said. “Things start to hurt. After I turned 35, being thrown onto cement wasn’t hilarious anymore. It had been upgraded to hell.”

While Reynolds is increasingly known for that kind of humor, he’s always had the action star physique and intention to pull off smash-em-up thrillers. And that means, whenever possible, he wants to do his own stunts.

Those who truly appreciate the craft of stunt work believe that it all plays into the character development and realistic look of the film.

But Reynolds is having a hard time convincing his back about his actorly principles.

“I really like physicality in movies,” he added. “I think it’s important to do as much of it yourself as you can, But I’ll step aside when there’s something that’s just too gnarly and there’s a trained professional ready to go.”

While rumors persist that Deadpool might be in the next Doctor Strange movie, the definitive plan right now is that the third Deadpool movie "is coming along."

As far as those Doctor Strange rumors, Reynolds told the outlet, “I’m really not in the movie. I’m promising I’m not in the movie.”

Reynolds does have another sci-fi film coming though, "The Adam Project," a time-warping battle tale of a man joining forces with his younger self. And you can be sure that Reynolds will inject the curious mix of brotherly heart-warming and exploding action scenes with lots of his patented droll humor.

Reynolds likens the overall tone of the film to '80s classics like "ET" and "The Goonies."

“It felt like one of those big wish fulfillment movies with huge stakes and high concept," said Reynolds, "but it was really about something very personal as well, which is sort of what I loved about movies in the ‘80s."

"The Adam Project" is directed by Shawn Levy, whom Reynolds worked with last year in "Free Guy." The cast also includes Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner as Adam’s parents.

"The Adam Project" premieres March 11th on Netflix.
