Ariana Grande has officially released her eighth studio album, Petal, marking her first full album since 2024’s Eternal Sunshine.
The 12 track project takes Ariana in a noticeably darker direction, blending pop, rock, shoegaze and R&B influences while featuring some of her most personal songwriting to date.
She wrote all of the lyrics herself and co executive produced the album with longtime collaborator Ilya.
The album is led by “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which became Ariana’s 10th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
The album addresses the intense public scrutiny Ariana has faced over the past two years, including criticism surrounding her appearance, relationships and the Wicked press tour.
Rather than ignoring the conversation, she tackles it head on throughout the album.
Songs like “Stay,” “Big Feelings,” “Like I Do,” and the title track are already emerging as early fan favorites, with critics praising the album’s raw emotion and more mature sound.
Critics are calling Petal one of Ariana’s boldest and most personal albums, describing it as both a continuation of Eternal Sunshine and a fresh new chapter in her career.
