Famed fitness trainer Jillian Michaels has revealed she contracted COVID-19 "several weeks ago."

Now, Michaels, 49, says people should reconsider going to the gym during the pandemic.

“If you are afraid of COVID, you should not go to the gym. And I actually am a person who let my guard down, I haven’t even spoken about this publicly really, and a very close friend of mine gave me COVID several weeks ago," the "Biggest Loser" alum told Fox News Business

“I’m fortunate to have gone into it being healthy and I was able to get on the other side of it pretty quick, but not everyone is that lucky as we know," she continued. "All I can tell you is if you are afraid of getting COVID, a public gym is probably a place where you will get it."

"I would love to tell you that’s not the case, but the reality is I literally let my guard down for an hour with one of my best friends who does my hair and makeup and got it," Michaels said. "It’s just that simple."

On September 2, LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn announced LA County updated its Public Health Officer orders where hair salons and barbershops can reopen their indoor operations, set at a 25% capacity limit.

"LA County’s Health Officer Order will be updated to allow hair salons and barbershops to resume indoor operations at 25% capacity. Options for increasing capacity will be re-evaluated three weeks after Labor Day," she said on Twitter.

L.A. County said gyms could reopen June 12. On July 13 Gov. Newsom closed them down again in L.A., citing the spread of COVID-19, and announced that the entire state was moving back into a modified version of the stay-at-home order.
