Big Bird has been vaccinated against COVID-19.
The iconic “Sesame Street” muppet shared the news on social media on Saturday, November 6.
After getting the shot, the yellow bird tweeted: “I got the COVID-19 vaccine today!”
He went on to detail his symptoms, noting: “My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy.”
This marked Big Bird’s first tweet since March.
“Ms. @EricaRHill even said I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird. I had no idea!” he continued referring to the CNN Journalist.
Hill joined Big Bird and Dr. Sanjay Gupta for a special program titled “The ABCs of Vaccines Town Hall."
NBC reports that while Big Bird has been a staple on the children’s program for decades, his ageless character is considered to be six-years-old, which means he became eligible for the vaccine in late October after the FDA authorized Pfizer to be used in children aged five to 11.
“Sesame Street” has discussed coronavirus at length throughout the duration of the pandemic. Additional topics have included mask-wearing and washing hands.
Muppet Wiki on Twitter confirmed Big Bird’s claim about getting vaccinated when he was a little bird.
