Flavor Flav and the US Women’s Water Polo Team -- an unlikely pairing if there ever was one. But as it turns out Flav is a fan, and he's utilizing his Public Enemy hypeman prowess to help spread the word and get them to the Paris Summer Olympics.

Earlier this month, team captain Maggie Steffens took to IG to reveal her team could still use financial support for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris. In her post, she mentions how many Olympians, including herself, need to work second or third jobs to “support chasing the dream.”

She continued, “Most teams rely on sponsors for travel, accommodations, nutritional support, rent/lodging, and simply affording to live in this day and age. Especially female sports and female athletes. We’ve had companies & amazing individuals support our sport alongside donors, USAWP & USOPC, but we always need more help.”

After learning this, Flavor Flav took to X to praise the team for all of their accomplishments, and pledge to “sponsor/support” Steffens and the rest of the team, who are all vying for their fourth consecutive gold medal.

“The US Women’s Waterpolo team has won the GOLD MEDAL THREE OLYMPICS IN A ROW,” the Hip-Hop legend wrote in a post on X, “these women should not have to be working 2-3 side jobs to be able to compete.” Ummm preach. “FLAVOR FLAV promises to sponsor/support captain Maggie Steffens the US Women’s Waterpolo team,” he added, concluding with “GO #TeamUSA.”

Also, talking to People about learning of the sports team’s need for sponsorships, Flav said, “Maggie, I heard about a lot of your accomplishments and I applaud you. I heard you got some gold medals… There’s a lot of women, I’m saying that all they want is just a chance. And all they want to do is feel like they got a chance. So I just wanted to help out, and help give women that chance that they are looking for.”

Expressing her gratitude for Flavor Flav’s support, Steffens told People, “Is this real, this reality? To have a Hall of Famer and somebody like him notice us and be willing to share our story, and to empower our journey, was pretty spectacular.”

And, fun fact — Flavor Flav isn’t the only high-profile U.S. Women’s Water Polo Team supporter. Also part of the pack is none other than Taylor Swift, who helped surprise the team with tickets to her first Paris Eras Tour show last Friday at La Défense Arena, which also happens to be the venue for the women’s water polo final on August 10.
