‘Golden Girls’ actor Chick Vennera dies at 74

Actor Chick Vennera, known for his frequent role as Enrique Mas on “The Golden Girls,” has died.

His daughter, Nicky Vennera, confirmed the actor passed away at the age of 74 on Wednesday in his home in Burbank after battling lung cancer, USA Today reports.

Vennera appeared in three epsides of “Golden Girls,” playing a man named Pepe in a season four episode before appearing as Enrique Mas in a pair of season five episodes.

In 1978, he appeared in "Thank God It’s Friday" alongside Donna Summer and memorably dances on top of cars in a parking lot.

Towards the late 90’s, Vennera took on the voice acting medium, playing the voice of multiple beloved cartoon characters, including "The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest," "Cow and Chicken," and Steven Spielberg's "Animaniacs,” where frequently played a character called Pesto, Fox News says.

Vennera's additional television credits included appearances in high-profile shows like "Night Court," "Mad About You," "JAG" and a number of animated "Batman" projects, the outlet says.

His final credit, per IMDb, was a 2009 video game called "Bayonetta."

According to IMDB, Vennera was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the voting body for the Academy Awards.

Additionally, Vennera is responsible for founding Los Angeles’ Renegade Theatre and Film Group, where he also taught.

Vennera was born Francis Vennera in Herkimer, New York, Deadline reports, and moved to California after high school. He studied at the famed Pasadena Playhouse before briefly joining the army.

The actor is survived by his daughter Victoria and wife Suzanne.
