Real ones already knew, but by now everyone else should too, Meghan Trainor’s love for T-Pain really knows no bounds. So much so, that while chatting backstage at Audacy’s Leading Ladies presented by Olay Body on March 20, Meghan admitted to NEW 102.7's Karen Carson that while she didn’t know he’d be featured on her song from the start, “every song I wrote I needed it to be likable, I need to know, ‘oh T-Pain could be on this song… if that makes sense.’”

"I just knew going into it this album,” she added, “like I will not finish this album without a T-Pain duet,” Meghan said determined. “Cause that was my goal in life, that was a bucket list moment dream for me, and I did it, Meghan said in a sing-songy way. Revealing, “There’s also another song on the album that has him, so I won twice, and I’m so excited.”
Letting us in on what we can expect from her forthcoming album Timeless, when it drops on June 14, Trainor said, “This album is a party, upbeat, fun, happy, loving yourself. It has the most self-love anthems I’ve ever heard on an album. And then there’s a big beautiful ballad called ‘Timeless,’” Meghan continued. Noting “I think it’ll be a big wedding song… it’s a big love song, but it’s also about how we don’t know how much time we have and we just gotta love like we’re timeless.” To sum it up Trainor declared, “So, we’ll be dancing, laughing, and crying.”
Trainor also talked about her Timeless Tour, which is set to kick off on September 3. Gushing over her fellow pop powerhouse Natasha Bedingfield, who will join Meghan for her shows in NYC Denver, and Los Angeles. As well as Paul Russell, who will be opening for Trainor throughout her entire 24-stop trek. Also joining along, her “TikTok soulmate” Chris Olsen and older brother Ryan Trainor, who will learn to DJ specifically for touring purposes, “he just doesn’t know it yet,” Meghan shared.
The singer also divulged, despite knowing she gets “in trouble for saying it,” that she wrote one song on the tracklist called “Forget How To Love,” just “a week after my C-section.” Recalling, “ I was like, ‘I gotta get in the stu, I have an idea,’ and they we’re like, ‘you shouldn’t go downstairs,’ and I was like, ‘I’ll be fine.’”
As they also discussed, many of Meghan’s songs are inspired by her family. And not just that, “it’s like my family is so involved now that they’re giving their opinion on stuff… but they're so great… that’s why I call albums with a T word, like Timeless, for Trainor, to wink at my family.”
Meghan also chatted about her little boys, being very ready for tour after 7 years, and her desire to document the trek and “make a movie.”
To close out their chat, Meghan shared her excitement to be on the Audacy Leading Ladies bill, saying, “I’m so excited, I can’t believe I was invited, all these ladies on stage are so iconic. I was like ‘What! I’ll go,’” Megan added with a giggle, “as soon as they asked me I was so excited.”
