The Las Vegas Raiders have officially signed No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
The rookie quarterback agreed to a four-year, $57.27 million contract, fully guaranteed, with a fifth-year team option.
The deal reportedly includes a $38.11 million signing bonus.
Mendoza was the final member of the Raiders’ 10-player draft class to sign.
His deal was completed as rookies reported to training camp in Henderson.
Veterans report July 28, and the Raiders hold their first full-team practice July 29.
Mendoza became the first player selected No. 1 overall by the Raiders since JaMarcus Russell in 2007.
He enters the NFL after winning the Heisman Trophy and leading Indiana to a 16-0 season and the school’s first national championship.
He threw for 3,535 yards, 41 touchdowns and six interceptions last season.
The Raiders still have a quarterback competition to work through. Kirk Cousins enters camp as the favorite after receiving most of the first-team snaps during the offseason program.
Mendoza worked primarily with the third team, while Aidan O’Connell also remains part of the competition.
The Raiders signed Cousins with the expectation he could begin the season as the starter, giving Mendoza time to develop.
Training camp will now show whether Mendoza follows that plan or forces the Raiders to speed up the timeline.
