In a new interview with podcast "Awards Chatter," "SATC" star Sarah Jessica Parker expresses that the feelings between her and former co-star, Kim Cattrall are still very raw.

Parker has been wary to discuss the situation since a third "Sex and the City" movie never came to fruition. That sting stung through the making of the new offshoot series for HBO Max, “And Just Like That,” which did not include Cattrall – one of the original four central characters on “Sex and the City.”

In the extremely revealing talk with the Awards Chatter podcast, Parker admitted that while it's still difficult to talk about the fractured relationship with Cattrall, she wanted to “to kind of run through how it happened.”

She wanted to make absolutely clear that this is not the back and forth “catfight” the media has portrayed.

“I just want to say one thing, because you’ve allowed me this opportunity,” Parker states. “It’s so painful for people to keep talking about this ‘catfight… There is not a ‘fight’ going on. There has been no public dispute or spat or conversations or allegations made by me or anybody on my behalf. I wouldn’t do it. That is not the way I would have it. So I just wish that they would stop calling this a ‘catfight’ or an ‘argument,’ because it doesn’t reflect [reality]. There has been one person talking.”

Parker said the feud started around 2017, when Cattrall was not happy with contractual negotiations for the possible third "SATC" sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was less about money than Cattrall wanting an unrelated project of her’s to be greenlit along with the third sequel.

“They didn’t feel comfortable meeting where she wanted to meet,” Parker explained, “and so we didn’t do the movie because we didn’t want to do it without Kim. Were we [she and costars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon] disappointed? Sure. But it happens.”

It apparently wasn’t quite that simple for Cattrall, as once the sequel fell through, she soon started speaking out about the other three principal actresses, saying they had never been friends, claiming she’d been mistreated during the run of the original series, and even went as far as to question the sincerity of Parker’s condolences after Cattrall’s brother died in 2018, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Parker said those comments did not accurately reflect the actresses’ experiences.

“I’ve spent a lot of years working really hard to always be decent to everybody on the set,” Parker said, “to take care of people, to be responsible to and for people, both my employers and the people that I feel I’m responsible for as a producer of the show. And there just isn’t anyone else who’s ever talked about me this way.”

As far as Cattrall not being involved in “And Just Like That,” Parker said plainly, “We did not ask her to be part of [that] because she made it clear that that wasn’t something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn’t occur to us. That’s not ‘slamming’ her, it’s just learning.”
