Forget binge watching tv or baking the perfect sourdough bread, during the early days in lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic. Padraig O'Dubhlaoidh, an Irish master violin luthier (someone who makes stringed instruments), decided to make a violin more sustainable. He created the World's first VEGAN VIOLIN (body ... minus the strings & bow ... a goal to work on).
It's the first violin (body) that is 100% animal-free. Padraig has found advantages to the violin's (body) being vegan. No worries about vegan adhesives having harmful effects on the violin's wood components like an animal-base glue. The violin's acoustic performance has also improved. A big plus for a violin certified with The Vegan Society's iconic Vegan Trademark. May it be the first of many more vegan minded creations, making beautiful music for the world.
