The Buy Nothing Project is what is positive when it comes to community, social media and the environment. A gift economy that was created in 2013 by two friends, Rebecca Rockefeller and Liesl Clarkin, from Bainbridge Island, Washington. An experiment with a Facebook group called 'Buy Nothing' in their community. Give, lend, share and receive. BUY NOTHING! It has grown from 4,000 members the first two months it started, to over 3 million members in 44 countries in 2021.

Buy Nothing saves you money and trips to the store. It allows neighbors to share unwanted or unneeded items with each other, rather than throwing them away. Creating a gift giving economy that benefits everyone and Mama Earth.
