The beloved yellow school bus is going to be getting an over-haul, because 95% of them run on dirty diesel. The exhaust can lead to worsen respiratory illnesses such as asthma. The Biden-Harris administration has created the Clean School Bus Program. This offers funding to help school districts to ditch the dirty diesel buses. CSBP wil get the funds needed for more electric school buses on the roads. It's the beginning of a larger 5-year funding progam. In 2022, the EPA will distribute $500 million with $4.5 billion over the next 4 years.
The Sierra Club, responsible for the Alliance for Electric School Buses, will work on getting school districts to apply for electric school bus funding. Helping to ensure every child in the US will have a clean ride to school, and communities will have less pollution.
