Did you know less than 10% of plants have flowers or leaves that are blue? This is why International artist Konstantin Dimopoulos is giving trees around the world an ultramarine blue makeover with his project ... The Blue Trees. The eco-friendly fluorescent blue grabs your attention to the trees, and what we could lose if we don't continue to pay attention.
The Blue Trees have been in over 30 sites that include London, Tennessee, Houston and Galveston. Now The Blues will take over Pease Park, giving the trees a velvety 3-D look. Over the course of a few months it will wash away without hurting Pease Park's eco-system.
The installation is expected to be finished with QR codes for more information by April 2, just in time for Squirrel Fest on April 9th. When you walk just north of the newly renovated 7-acre area of Kingsbury Commons, you'll see around 100 blue trees telling their story in Pease Park.
