It was quite a spectacle in northern Michigan over the weekend when a cliff face broke away at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, stunning boaters who captured it on video.
One witness said he could hear the around 200-foot-tall rock wall "popping and cracking" before the collapse into Lake Superior.
According to local media reports, this happened the afternoon of Saturday June 29, in the area between Miner’s Beach and Mosquito Beach.
No injuries were reported.
Erosion has been a growing problem along the Great Lakes in recent years, sending some northern and western Michigan coastline crumbling and tumbling.
There was a similar event at Pictured Rocks in 2019, when kayakers on a tour narrowly escaped injury when a large section of cliff fell into Lake Superior.
