Brian Flores gets second interview for Texans head coach

(SportsRadio 610) - The Texans are interviewing Brian Flores in person for their head coaching vacancy Monday in Houston, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero first reported.

Flores is the third candidate to get a second interview for the position. The Texans have also interviewed retired NFL quarterback Josh McCown twice, as well as Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.

According to Pelissero, the Texans and Flores sides "have spoken multiple times," and this is the first in-person interview with the former Miami Dolphins head coach.

Flores was fired after back-to-back winning seasons, but failing to make the playoffs in three seasons with Miami. The Dolphins were 9-8 in 2021; 10-6 in 2020; and 5-11 in 2019, Flores' first season there.

Before the Dolphins, Flores spent 15 years as a Patriots assistant, working with current Texans general manager Nick Caserio, who was also a scout, coach and executive for New England before joining Houston last year.

In addition to Flores, McCown and Gannon, the Texans have also interviewed Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, retired NFL wide receiver and current Florida Atlantic University assistant Hines Ward and Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell.
