Each year families all over the world go on a search for the perfect Christmas tree. While many choose to use the same tree every year, others like to go out and bring home a new tree for the family to dress. The only issue with that strategy is the surprises that may come home along with the tree. A family in Australia recently went viral after sharing photos of a koala bear they found in their tree.

The McCormick family returned home with their new tree recently, and almost immediately noticed something didn’t seem right. “I think the dog went straight to the Christmas tree and was sniffing around and Mum thought that was a bit weird. There [were] baubles all over the floor … and she looked up and there was a koala in the tree,” said Taylah McCormick.

Video of the koala quickly went viral, as many claimed that is the type of Christmas present they dream of every year. Luckily, the koala wasn’t harmed and was later removed by a rescue team. Sadly the koala wasn’t able to become a Christmas present.
