(SportsRadio 610) - The Texans are on the verge of securing the No. 1 overall pick with a loss at the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Ahead of this pivotal matchup, with long term ramifications on the line for Houston, Hall of Famer and senior Texans columnist John McClain joined The Drive with Stoerner & Hughley for his weekly visit.
McClain expects this to be Lovie Smith's final game as Texans head coach, stresses the importance of the No. 1 overall pick.
"I don't know if they'll do it on Monday. I think Lovie's going to be fired," McClain said. "I've been saying now for the last three weeks I thought he would be fired. I think they're going to start a new era with a new coach, a new quarterback, a lot of new players because they've got 11 draft choices.
"They get (second-round pick last year) John Metchie, hopefully, back from leukemia. And then Nick Caserio's going to have money under the (salary) cap for the first time to sign a couple of expensive free agents to fill need positions and so I think it will be a new era."
