It’s only been a few weeks since Chloe Bailey’s Instagram has entered the chat. But by the steady trickle of gradually more risqué content coming from the older sibling of Chloe x Halle, are y'all really that surprised? Not that it matters, she’s grown, well she’s 22 years old, so just leave her alone.

Oh our bad, did we get ahead of ourselves? Let us explain. With, as of now, only 14 posts since it’s arrival on January 19, Chloe’s new solo Instagram feed includes exactly what you’d expect, a few TikTok trends, including the #BussItChallenge and #SilhouetteChallenge plus a handful of pictures that slay, accompanied by witty and cheeky captions.

Speaking of cheeky, even though in her very first sultry post she asked her followers to “bite me,” it was a video of herself dancing in a t-shit and underwear to “Wolfcat” by Still Wooz while saging her room that got people going and the backlash flowing. Despite her intention for “good vibes onlyyyy."

Well as you could imagine, being told she’s being “too sexy” and “turning into a sexual object” due to the things that she’s posted didn’t sit well with Chloe. Saddened by the negative reactions, she decided to tearfully say her piece on Instagram Live. Both empowering and revealing, she shared about her journey to self-love and acceptance.

“For every woman out there, don’t change who you are to make society feel comfortable. And I’m telling myself that’s not what I’m going to do, even when I posted the video yesterday, I posted it because I was saging and doing Palo Santa and I was like, ‘Let’s spread positive vibes,’” she said.

“I didn’t even really notice you guys were talking about my ass because I was like, ‘OK, I’m just walking in from one seconds, two seconds...’ And I feel like I’ve shown my ass more than I have with that, like if you look at our performance videos, the last performance we had in December," she added. "Like, I was just so excited and on stage, and just being myself, so... I don’t know.”

Chloe also explained why she decided to open up to her fans. “I just felt it was important to address it, so you guys get to kind of know who I am inside," she said. "And it’s really hard for me to think of myself as a sexual being or an attractive being quite frankly. So, when I see all the uproar about my posts and stuff, I’m a bit confused. Like, I really don’t understand because I’ve never seen myself in that way.”

Making it quite clear that she isn't seeking validation or attention, Chloe revealed that while the posts are public, showing a glimpse into the woman she’s growing into, more than anything they are for her. Noting, “it has taken me a lot to appreciate myself and my body. There’s been so many times where I felt I wasn’t pretty enough, where I have a lot of issues with my weight, so it’s a pivotal time for me. I’m just now learning at 22, almost 23, that it’s okay to be all that you are and to stand in that power.” Bailey began to conclude her point, “I’m not going to change who I am. If I did, I would be a Catfish, and all of you wouldn’t see the real me.”

And with that, explanation is complete. Clearly we’re on Team Chloe and as it seems a large majority of Twitter is with us. From fellow musicians, to comedians, to regular shmegular fans, clads of individuals came to Chloe’s rescue, not that she needs to be rescued, but you know what we mean. Hopefully the haters will get a clue and let Chloe thrive in peace.
